Guidance

Know who to contact and when

Good advising works best when students know which questions belong with advising, which belong with the major department, and when to ask for help early.

Questions about a major should be directed to the student’s major advisor or the relevant Director of the Undergraduate Program. Students who believe they may require a 9th full-time semester should discuss that with their Advising Dean as soon as possible.
Support Areas

How advising can help you

Students do not need to wait for a problem before using advising. It is meant to support planning as much as problem-solving.

What Advising Helps With

Advising helps students understand how degree requirements fit together and how to stay on track toward graduation.

Students can use advising support when choosing courses, reviewing degree progress, or making decisions about majors and minors.

Advising is also an important part of long-term academic planning and student success.

Who to Talk To

Students are encouraged to meet with their Advising Dean to review progress toward the degree.

Questions about the major should be directed to the student’s major advisor or the relevant Director of the Undergraduate Program.

Different questions may belong with different offices, so advising can also help point students in the right direction.

When to Reach Out

Reach out before registration, when thinking about changing academic plans, or whenever your progress feels unclear.

Students who believe they may require a 9th full-time semester should discuss this with their Advising Dean as soon as possible.

It is usually easier to solve academic planning issues early than late.
