Bio

Dr. Dramou Martin, MA, PhD

Dr. Dramou Martin

Dr. Martin Dramou is a distinguished educator, scholar, and higher education leader whose life and career reflect a deep commitment to academic excellence, global engagement, and community development. Born and raised in the rural village of Tamoe in Guinea, West Africa, Dr. Dramou developed a passion for education at an early age.

He began his formal education in his native village of Tamoe before continuing to the Boys Catholic Middle School and later Jean de La Mennais Catholic High School in Côte d’Ivoire, where he served as President of the Student Council. He later pursued higher education at the University of Douala in Cameroon, earning a bachelor’s degree in mathematics followed by a Master’s degree in Finance.

Following his academic training, Dr. Dramou returned to Guinea, where he dedicated five years to working with USAID through the Academy for Educational Development (AED), contributing to initiatives designed to improve educational systems and expand access to quality learning opportunities.

After immigrating to the United States, he earned a master’s degree in human resources management from the University of Phoenix and later obtained a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

With over 25 years of experience in teaching mathematics, Dr. Dramou has taught students from varied cultural and academic backgrounds and is known for his professionalism, adaptability, strong interpersonal skills, and student-centered approach.

Dr. Dramou currently serves as the President of PATHS University of Africa, where he provides visionary leadership aimed at transforming higher education on the continent. He advocates for an adaptive model of African higher education that aligns with globalization and emerging technological advancements.

Under his leadership, the university has developed an innovative curriculum that integrates the strengths of both Anglophone and Francophone educational traditions while remaining grounded in African contexts and realities. His vision emphasizes equipping students with critical thinking skills to identify societal challenges and develop sustainable, community-based solutions.

He is also committed to fostering strategic partnerships between PATHS University of Africa, industry stakeholders, educational institutions, and government entities to drive socioeconomic development across African nations. Dr. Dramou resides in Clayton, North Carolina, with his wife, Elisabeth, and their children.
